Summary: This in vitro study evaluated Class II composite restorations restored with conventional composite, preheated composite, flowable liner, and flowable liner with preheated composite. The study reported that preheating composite resin to 60°C improved adaptation and reduced marginal gaps compared with non-preheated composite. The lowest marginal gap percentage was reported in the group using flowable composite followed by preheated composite.

 

Result Highlight: Preheated composite showed improved marginal adaptation and reduced restoration margin gaps under the study conditions.

Summary: This clinical study compared preheated and unheated bulk-fill composite resin restorations in Class I cavities over a 1-year follow-up period. The study reported 100% retention in both groups, while the preheated group maintained Alpha scores for marginal adaptation and marginal discoloration throughout the evaluation period. The unheated group showed marginal deterioration and marginal discoloration in some restorations after 12 months.

 

Result Highlight: Preheated bulk-fill composite demonstrated superior clinical performance compared with unheated composite by the end of the 1-year evaluation period.

Summary: This in vitro study evaluated the shear bond strength of two bulk-fill composite systems to dentin, with and without preheating. The study reported that preheated groups showed higher mean shear bond strength values than non-preheated groups. When analyzed regardless of composite type, preheating produced a statistically significant increase in bond strength.

 

Result Highlight: Preheating bulk-fill composite with C-Warmer™ significantly improved shear bond strength to dentin under the study conditions.

Summary: This in vitro study compared high-irradiance curing lights, including Cybird™ XD, Valo, S.P.E.C. 3 LED, and Flashmax P3. The study found that the manufacturer-recommended short exposure times did not adequately polymerize the tested composite at a 2 mm depth. Under the study protocol, Cybird™ XD achieved adequate polymerization at 2 mm after 9 seconds. The pulpal temperature increase at this experimental exposure time remained below the threshold associated with possible pulpal injury.

 

Result Highlight: Cybird™ XD achieved adequate 2 mm polymerization at 9 seconds in this study, with pulpal temperature increase remaining below the cited safety threshold.

Summary: This study evaluated the accuracy of commercial dental radiometers when measuring LED light-curing units, including Cybird™ XD. The authors reported substantial discrepancies between radiometer readings and gold-standard integrating sphere measurements, showing that dental radiometers may not reliably estimate actual light output for all curing lights.

 

Result Highlight: The study supports the importance of accurate light-output measurement methods when evaluating curing-light performance.

Summary: This dental materials study evaluated translucency of zirconia and hybrid ceramic monolithic crowns using white light and blue light transmission testing. A DXM Cybird™ Gold lamp was used for the blue-light transmission measurement. The study found differences in translucency depending on material type and sintering protocol.

 

Result Highlight: Cybird™ Gold was used as a blue-light source in translucency testing of ceramic and hybrid ceramic crown materials.

Summary: This microCT study evaluated protocols for removing filling material from flattened or oval-shaped root canals. Friendo™ and Gutta Easy™ were used during the root canal filling procedure before retreatment testing. The study found that using the ClearSonic ultrasonic tip followed by Reciproc resulted in the lowest percentage of remaining filling material in the whole canal and apical third.

 

Result Highlight: Friendo™ and Gutta Easy™ were used in the obturation protocol for this endodontic retreatment study.
